Welcome to the Pinterest marketing guide for creatives.
My name is Anike Kehinde and Im a certified Art Therapist. In the past years Ive been working online as an entrepreneur, and I love to
create online art courses here on Udemy.

I have been using Pinterest successfully for my business. And in this course, you’re going to learn how you can do the same.

Therefore, if you implement all the
strategies that I’m teaching you in this course, then you, your relevant
websites are going to rank higher on Google because when people pin your beautiful pins, then Google is going to see that back links have
been created and will think, since a lot of people are going to this
website, this means that it must be relevant and then you will rank higher.

Anyway, Im going to teach you all these things, how to set up, set up a beautiful branded Pinterest profile that is also search engine optimized at the same time, so that you can boost your business.

So enjoy the course, try to implement everything that you learn immediately. And then I can only wish you all the best anAd also really invite you to be active in the course.
If you have any questions, then use the Q and a section and then Ill be happy to help you. So see you inside the course.

This is the Pinterest course for creatives. And first of all, we’re going to start with the question why you should use Pinterest in the first place. Like you have already realized that you should not underestimate Pinterest, that it is really a tool that you should use to boost your business.

And I’m going to show you some numbers first to get started. So here are some quick facts. Printers has more than 320 million monthly active users, and I’m recording this in the year 2020. So it is going to grow. It is already growing 71% of global Pinterest users are female, according to Statista. And when you only look at the U S you
can say that Pinterest reaches 83% of women that are around 25 til 54.
So that’s like the age range, what you need to keep in mind that Pinterest is a social search engine.

So it’s not the same as being on Instagram, being on YouTube. It’s not the real social media platform. That’s why we say it’s a social search engine, because the same way that people really enter keywords into Google, like people that are really actively searching something now go to Pinterest because they know that they will find images.

They will find inspirations. So instead of just looking up words, people now go straight to Pinterest and look for things, which means that if you want active people to find your website, then Pinterest is a very good tool to use to boost your business.

As I said, already, Pinterest is active, which means that it targets active users. Yeah. So, whereas on Instagram, you might be a little bit passive and like scrolling through when you are on Pinterest, you are active in the sense that if you see something that you like, you can save it to one of your boards, or you can create your own little pins.

Like even though people add links to the YouTube description and a lot of people click them, you’re more a passive listener when you’re on YouTube, when you’re on Instagram, you’re more like a loyal follower, which means you have your Instagram as that.

On Instagram,  You want to see people’s life behind the scenes. You are  active in the sense that you like their posts.
Maybe you also comment if they have something like a swipe up feature and the click to action, of course, you also actively participate.

And then there are still podcasts. Podcasts are for true fans. Podcasts are great because you can
hear the voice from somebody which is more intimate.
And, um, if you have the time to listen, 20 minutes or 60 minutes to a person, and you do that on a consistent basis, then more likely you are a to fan because you only listen to people where you love the voice, or you love their topics.

Andyou have the time to listen, 20 minutes or 60 minutes to a person, and you do that on a consistent basis, then more likely you are a to fan because you only listen to people where you love the voice, or you love their topics.

As you can see YouTube, Instagram, and podcasts, theyre all unique. They all have their pros. And then when we look at Pinterest, the great thing about Pinterest is that people are not only passive, but they see a pin that they like.

They pin it to their own board, or they see a pin that they like, and they can click on it and go straight to your website, which means you, um, you come to your goals faster because if you are targeting the right person and they see your pin, then chances are high that they go to your website, you boost your search engine optimization that way, Google kind of notice,
people are going to this website constantly, which means it must have awesome content.

And of course, the advantage that Pinterest has is that people post or sorry, they save your pins to their pin, to their printers boards on people.

See that, save it. So it’s like a chain reaction and your pins go out through the whole world and they get more attraction and get more people to your website, which is something you should not underestimate.

If you have any questions, then use the Q and a section and then Ill be happy to help you. So see you inside the course.

This is the Pinterest marketing Guide  for creatives. And first of all, were going to start with the question why you should use Pinterest in the first place.

Like you have already realized that you should not underestimate Pinterest, that it is really a tool that you shoulduse to boost your business. And Im going to show you some numbers first to get started. So here are some quick facts. Printers has more than 320 million monthly active users, and Im recording this in the year 2020.

0:02:19
So it is going to grow. It is already growing 71% of global Pinterest users are female, according to Statista. And when you only look at the U S you can say that Pinterest reaches 83% of women that are around 25 tilt 54.

0:02:40
So thats like the, um, thats like the age range, what you need to keep in mind that Pinterest is a social search engine.

0:02:53
So its not the same as being on Instagram, being on YouTube. Its not the real social media platform. Thats why we say its a social search engine, because the same way that people really enter keywords into Google, like people that are really actively searching something now go to Pinterest because they know that they will find images.

0:03:23
They will find inspirations. So instead of just looking up words, people now go straight to Pinterest and look for things, which means that if you want active people to find your website, then Pinterest is a very good tool to use to boost your business.

0:03:44
As I said, already, Pinterest is active, which means that it targets active users. Yeah. So, whereas on Instagram, you might be a little bit passive and like scrolling through when you are on Pinterest, you are active in the sense that if you see something that you like, you can save it to one of your boards, or you can create your own little pins.

0:04:15
So lets just have a look, um, and compare Pinterest to other successful platforms. YouTube is for a passive listener. So for example, someone that is looking for answers will go to YouTube, but that person will not necessarily do something like, um, theres not necessarily a click to action.

0:04:39
Like even though people add links to the YouTube description and a lot of people click them, youre more a passive listener when youre on YouTube, when youre on Instagram, youre more like a loyal follower, which means you have your Instagram as that.

0:04:56
You really love you. You want to see their, like behind the scenes. You like, um, youre active in the sense that you like their posts.

0:05:07
Maybe you also comment if they have something like a swipe up feature and the click to action, of course, you also actively participate.

0:05:17
Uh, then, um, pod casts are for true fans. Podcasts are great because you can hear a voice, the voice from somebody which is more intimate.

0:05:26
And, um, if you have the time to listen, 20 minutes or 60 minutes to a person, and you do that on a consistent basis, then more likely you are a to fan because you only listen to people where you love the voice, or you love their topics.

0:05:47
So as you can see YouTube, Instagram, and podcasts, theyre all unique. They all have their pros. And then when we look at Pinterest, the great thing about Pinterest is that people are not only passive, but they see a pin that they like.

0:06:04
They pin it to their own board, or they see a pin that they like, and they can click on it and go straight to your website, which means you, um, you come to your goals faster because if you are targeting the right person and they see your pin, then chances are high that they go to your website, you boost your search engine optimization that way, Google kind of notice, oh, um, people are going to this website constantly, which means it must have awesome content.

0:06:40
And of course, the advantage that Pinterest has is that people post or sorry, they save your pins to their pin, to their printers boards on people.

0:06:54
See that, save it. So its like a chain reaction and your pins go out through the whole world and they get more attraction and get more people to your website, which is something you should not underestimate.

0:07:11
So every piece of content that you publish on Pinterest can be linked to your website. I already said that, um, this is awesome because for example, on Instagram, your LinkedIn bio is very great or on YouTube, you can also add links in your description or somewhere else on YouTube, but you will not be sure if the person who just comes, sees your YouTube video, for example, gets awesome content.

0:07:39
If that person is also going to click on your information, but the way Pinterest is designed people either save your post or go straight to your website, or they dont do anything, which means theyre probably not your target group, but the, the kind of invitation to be active is very, very, uh, high on Pinterest, because that is how the page was designed.

0:08:09
Then the second thing I want to share with you is that Pinterest is a combination of a search engine and a social media platform.

0:02:53
So its not the same as being on Instagram, being on YouTube. Its not the real social media platform. Thats why we say its a social search engine, because the same way that people really enter keywords into Google, like people that are really actively searching something now go to Pinterest because they know that they will find images.

0:06:54
See that, save it. So its like a chain reaction and your pins go out through the whole world and they get more attraction and get more people to your website, which is something you should not underestimate.

0:08:09
Then the second thing I want to share with you is that Pinterest is a combination of a search engine and a social media platform.

0:08:17
So its not as social media platform in the sense that Instagram is that people follow you and, um, just enjoy your content.

0:08:30
Like some might go save you for a while and not, uh, look at your content. For example, like, go, dont go to your website, but theyre pretty good in saving your content to their printers Boyd, which means that other people find it.

0:08:48
So Im going to talk about that more in the following lectures. What I mean by that, as some people are more active in the sense that they go straight to your website or people might not click through, but theyre saving their, your pin for later.

0:09:07
And then someone aunts can find it on their board, which means that
way your pin goethrough the worldwide web, which is awesome.

0:09:18
And its a social media platform in the sense that people can also like pins. People are social because they save your content and you can also create a nice scene.
0:09:33
You can really show what your brand stands for. And Im going to show that to you in the next lectures as well.
0:09:40
So don’t worry about that. The awesome thing about Pinterest is that your pin can be evergreen. So an old pin that you created a year ago can still link to your website a year later.
0:07:39
If that person is also going to click on your information, but the way Pinterest is designed people either save your post or go straight to your website, or they don’t do anything, which means they’re probably not your target group, but the, the kind of invitation to be active is very, very, uh, high on Pinterest, because that is how the page was designed.
0:08:09
Then the second thing I want to share with you is that Pinterest is a combination of a search engine and a social media platform.
0:08:17
So it’s not as social media platform in the sense that Instagram is that people follow you and, um, just enjoy your content.
0:08:30
Like some might go save you for a while and not, uh, look at your content. For example, like, go, don’t go to your website, but they’re pretty good in saving your content to their printers Boyd, which means that other people find it.
0:08:48
So I’m going to talk about that more in the following lectures. What I mean by that, as some people are more active in the sense that they go straight to your website or people might not click through, but they’re saving their, your pin for later.
0:09:07
And then someone aunts can find it on their board, which means that way your pin goes, uh, through the worldwide web, which is awesome.
0:09:18
And it’s a social media platform in the sense that people can also like pins. People are social because they save your content and you can also create a nice scene.
0:09:33
You can really show what your brand stands for. And I’m going to show that to you in the next lectures as well.
0:09:40
So don’t worry about that. The awesome thing about Pinterest is that your pin can be evergreen. So an old pin that you created a year ago can still link to your website a year later.
0:10:01
That’s very difficult with Instagram, even though Instagram might have more users and seem like the awesome platform compared to Pinterest at first, um, it is still awesome to use Pinterest because yeah, simply put because it allows you to create something once that will still help you in a month in 10 months to kind of boost your website.
0:10:30
So promoted pins is also something that I’m going to talk about with you. A promoted pins performed just as good and sometimes even better than organic pins, which is obvious because the platforms always want, um, yeah.
0:10:46
People or creators to pay some money. So then your, um, created content will be shown to more people that kind of make sense.
0:10:58
Brand advertisers achieved about a 30% bump in earned media from their campaigns. That’s from people who saw a promoted pin and thought it was good enough to save to one of their own boards, promoted pins perform longer.
0:11:13
After a campaign ends, since pins are evergreen and lasts forever. We often saw an extra 5% bump in earned media and the month following the end of a campaign.
0:11:24
So this was, um, written by Pinterest and it shows that you can pay for a pin once just to boost it a little bit so that people see it on their, um, on their first on their main page.
0:11:41
And then they start saving it to their boards. They started going to your website. And as soon as a few people have already saved your pin, then maybe after a week or so, you can stop promoting it.
0:11:55
And people will find it all over them, the platforms where it has been saved. And that’s what, how, without you doing anything anymore, it kind of, um, yeah, goes all over the web.
0:12:11
I hope that makes sense. Then even beginners can succeed on Pinterest. That is something that is awesome. So for example, on other platforms, it might take a while.
0:12:26
So for example, I hear people saying all the times that on YouTube, you need to be consistent. You need to create videos, um, for a while, until you see people seeing your content and liking you and like following you subscribing and so on.
0:12:44
But in Pinterest, if you just started in the mind, you can already have a large number of followers and a lot of people can already save your pins.
0:12:56
So if you are creative, if you know how to create your own pins, then I would say, this is an awesome platform for you.
0:13:06
And I’m going to show you how to create pins. And I also have some free templates for you to get started.
0:13:13
So that should not be a reason why you can’t get started. Then what I need you to keep in mind is Pinterest loves accounts that create fresh content.
0:09:33
You can really show what your brand stands for. And Im going to show that to you in the next lectures as well.
0:09:40
So dont worry about that. The awesome thing about Pinterest is that your pin can be evergreen. So an old pin that you created a year ago can still link to your website a year later.
0:10:01
Thats very difficult with Instagram, even though Instagram might have more users and seem like the awesome platform compared to Pinterest at first, um, it is still awesome to use Pinterest because yeah, simply put because it allows you to create something once that will still help you in a month in 10 months to kind of boost your website.
0:10:30
So promoted pins is also something that Im going to talk about with you. A promoted pins performed just as good and sometimes even better than organic pins, which is obvious because the platforms always want, um, yeah.
0:10:46
People or creators to pay some money. So then your, um, created content will be shown to more people that kind of make sense.
0:10:58

0:13:28
This is as something, it makes sense. So most people are consumers. Most people go on YouTube to consume. Most people go to Instagram to consume.
0:13:40
Most people go to Pinterest just to consume. There are more consumers on all these platforms than creators. And thats why Pinterest, that algorithm from Pinterest will see, oh, this is an account that is creating fresh content.
0:13:58
And without us, without us that are creating fresh continent, bumping it out in a regular basis, Pinterest would become boring after why?
0:14:10
Because people would see the same pins, uh, on their, um, yeah, on their board the whole time. So thats why it kind of makes sense that Pinterest loves pupil, that create fresh content.
0:14:26
That means instead of just, repinning what you see from others. As soon as you have your business account and you know that youre going to use printers for your business, it is very, very important that you create fresh pins on a regular basis or that you pin pins from your website every now and then, so that they have a new, um, pin ID.
0:14:57
But I’m going to explain that further as well. Yeah. Pinterest is a traffic machine. So the main reason why you should use Pinterest for your business is because it will help you drive traffic to your website.
0:12:11
I hope that makes sense. Then even beginners can succeed on Pinterest. That is something that is awesome. So for example, on other platforms, it might take a while.

0:15:13
And then if Google sees that you have a lot of people going to your website and staying there for a long amount of time, because they enjoy the content, your website will, um, rank higher in the Google rank.
0:15:29
Yeah. Thats what is the word? Yeah. You can improve your search just by being active on Pinterest. What were going to do now is we are going to create your profile.
0:15:40
Im going to show you how you can get started. What youre going to do is youre going to go to business.pinterest.com.
0:15:53
For me, it adds a D E because Im in Germany. Thats why, what you see here is German. So right here, you would, um, log in if you already had an account, but when something red pops up, thats how youre asked to create your new account thing I did now was I entered my email address and it asked me for my name as well.
0:16:26
So now I am already in Pinterest. It asked me for the language that I want to appear. So just for a demonstrate demonstration purposes, I added English.
0:16:38
So Im going to next at the beginning, its going to ask you to choose categories that you like. So this is just so that the algorithm knows what to show you at the beginning.
0:16:52
So that from the beginning you have a positive experience and enjoy Pinterest. So Im going to say, I like, um, artistic things.
0:17:02
I like to be entertained. Um, find a recipe to cook and plan a vacation. So it says, pick at least two categories, but you can pick as many as you like now pick five or more topics to go deeper.
0:17:20
So Im going to say drawings, art, cute animals, food, and drink. As you can see, there is so much here to pick.
0:17:35
Yeah, but its not as if, um, when you dont add something, its going to ruin your Pinterest experience forever. So this is just for the beginning.
0:17:47
Im just going to go over this very, to give you an idea. So pins are ideas. They are links saved.
0:17:55
Oh, sorry. That is already gone. So as you could see now, since the algorithm now has an idea who I am and what I like pins are already showing up here.
